AI v Human Content Power

Posted on May 28, 2024 |

This chart is for a small client of mine. Based in London and not having much time we increased the traffic (and conversion) to her website with content only.

AI v Human Content

Traffic Gain (%) in One Year:

  • Organic Search: 95%
  • Direct: 61%
  • Organic Social: 139%

What type of content?

Because my client has limited time social posting is minimal. Longer form content was written by myself. How much content was created and what type?

  • X (the former and for many still Twitter): 1 – 2 posts per week, usually with a short video
  • Instagram: 1 – 2 posts per month, mostly still images but one in every three is a video
  • Website, (blog) 1- 2 blog posts per week.

That’s it!

Traffic Sources

We all know that Google Analytics don’t tell the whole story and the data has to be taken with a ‘pinch of salt’.

For instance, how much of that direct traffic is generated by seeing the social content? The same goes for organic traffic.

Data from Google Analytics 4 suffers from an inability to be accurate with mobile traffic, people using VPN, in-app traffic and much more. Once you know that you can compare like for like but always with that ‘pinch of salt’.

Brand Awareness

A brand term is a shortcut to a website. Don’t make people think of the spelling, keep it simple and then monitor Google Search Console for the use of the brand term and spelling variations. More brand term searches mean greater awareness for the business.

AI v Human Content Power

As the title of this piece is about AI being a tool then stick to that thought. Do not try to create decent content solely with AI. Instead, if you are not the creative type, use AI to generate ideas for content and outlines.

Why did the content Create Search Traffic?

I can’t go into the details of the client as (unusually) I’ve signed an NDA. What I can say is it is a service and not a product.

The content came about by a combination of looking as Search returns, choosing keyword terms to use in the content title and optimising using my simple SEO Checklist.

The keywords became part of the title and the prose was written with emotional hooks to encourage engagement.

Each post is between 650 and 1,100 words, images were used to break up the text. The images are of the client at work. So, that is real people experiencing the service.

Wix is Great

Wix is the platform used. Wix used to suffer from a reputation as not being search-friendly. All that has changed and it is exceptional at gaining search traffic. Wix comes with an SEO wizard that takes you through all the steps of making the copy optimised for search.

The final part is just submitting the post URL in Google Search Console so it is indexed as quickly as possible.

A massive increase in traffic also translated into increased enquiries. Conversion also increased but this is still a work in process and other elements will be added to the website to maximise the conversion into new clients.

Drop me a line if you fancy increasing your website by adding well-purposed, emotional and engaging copy.
