Link Building
You want to build links to your website in a natural manner and you want a gift that keeps on giving. You also want
Standard practice is to create something as a giveaway. Like a guide to your product or service. Another tactic is the use of infographic.
They both work very well. But what if you wanted something more compulsive and you wanted links from a particular market segment?
The Vehicle
What do you have that you can give away? Have you tried a PDF of a guide or a jpeg of an infographic? Has it worked? Then that’s great. If you want more links or stronger links then have a think about what you can offer.
This can be a physical thing not just a digital resource. O’ and, of course, if you are writing up great content anyway it is going to get shared and linked to, so what’s a link building vehicle?
Link Building on a Budget
This idea worked a treat for a client a few years back.
They produced copies of original newspapers, Daily Mirror, that related historic events, The Sinking of the Titanic, D-Day, England winning the World Cup, The Moon Landings.
They had an overrun and were going to recycle the paper. What if? What if we offered these newspapers as a pack BUT only to educational establishments.
So, we wrote off and range a lot of schools, universities etc offering a pack of historic newspapers as teaching materials.
This simple use of something that was going to be recycled created a fair few links from educational .ac.uk websites and the website offering them good a good bump up the Search Engine Results Page in Google.
It was a gift that kept going as we put a landing page with the offer on the site. The only proviso being they had to be a legitimate educational establishment and link back to us.We even got a link from the Girl Guides website.
