Is A.I. For Content Marketing a Good Idea?

Posted on Jun 1, 2026 |

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Content marketing is vital to conversion as well as contributing to traffic creation.

So, if you would like the short answer, it’s “No!” Read further to understand why?

I’m a fan of making things quicker and easier if it leads to a result.

I remember being at an Affiliate Forum, years ago, which was a great learning experience. A top affiliate said one phrase that lives with me: ‘Content is King’ (and it should be noted ‘Queen’ and ‘Jack’).

Imagine an AI World

This world is full of men in button down shirts, chino clad, highly groomed men. The temperature is always the same, the sky is always blue and the only sign of rebellion is drinking a second bottle of low cal, low sodium beer. Basically California, specifically Silicon Valley. You know, where most of the world’s tech comes from.

AI Slop is one description, another is blandness of tech solutions. Bland because they reduce many people’s thought into lowest common denominators. AI copy writing lacks real humanity, originality, empathy, fun, rebellion and more. What can you do with your content that will stand out from this swamp of banality?

I take it, you wish to be different and are willing to put in the graft? Right then…

The E.E.A.T Model by Google

Experience | Expertise | Authority | Trust

Original Experience Beats Generic Advice

AI is a thief. Why not use your experience? You are unique, you have stories, you have failures, you are interesting.

Create content on:

  • What your customers are like
  • What you’ve tested
  • Your mistakes
  • Your Opinion
  • Data
  • Business behind-the-scenes

Expertise Matters

I can’t do what you do. You can show your skills, insights and hard-won learning.

Create content on:

  • The author, their bio
  • Their story of getting to this point in life
  • The evidence they have accumulated
  • Who references them
  • Examples of achievement
  • Customer successes

Project Authority

Your reputation will give readers confidence in your words.

Create content on:

  • Testimonials from industry experts
  • Reviews from the press or authority websites
  • Links to industry bodies

Infer Trust, No Need to Ask

  • LinkedIn engagement
  • Stats, 100k followers is good, 29% engagement from social is better
  • Belong to or found a useful community
  • Partner with good people, those that give of themselves
  • Spread your word (depending on budget), PR, podcasts, video

Humanity Needs You

We need you to be as human as possible, to be open, to remark on your idiosyncrasies, acknowledge your faults and do plenty of listening (you know, learn stuff about people)

People increasingly respond to:

  • Passion
  • Being fun and or funny
  • Opinions backed up with authority sources
  • Respect for people
  • Doing more than is needed

Conclusion

Being creative means seeing the pattern, then changing the pattern. Then realising that that too, is a pattern. Then realising you should sit somewhere quiet and eat cake.

I know how pompous I am.
