One of my favourite tools for shortcutting digital marketing success is the Landing Page Analyzer from Unbounce.
How Does it Work?
Well, you just pop in the URL of the page you want to test and add:
- Does your landing page have a form?
- Traffic sources
- 3 – 5 keyword phrases
- Current conversion rate
and:
- Some details about yourself
What does it do?
The analyzer returns results on:
- Page speed
- Mobile friendliness
- Conversion-centered design
- SEO
- Trust & security
Plus:
- Message match
- Social tags
What actions can you take?
Quite a few as these results can guide you to make significant changes that will improve your conversion rate.
Page speed
You’ll see a lot of detail for which you really need a developer. There will be certain things you can do for yourself, usually reducing the size of the images on the page.
Mobile friendliness
Have you ever seen the page on a mobile device? Always do so as a great wedge of traffic is only going to see your page on mobile. If it’s slow or difficult to read then you have to use a developer and designer.
Conversion-centered design
It’s about focusing your visitor’s attention. Although the tool will give some advice, that is valuable, this will need more thought and experimentation.
SEO
This is the basics, are your keywords in the page and in the meta data and URL?
Trust & Security
Do you have an SSL certificate? This is vital these days even if you are not trapping any visitor data. This also relates to social proof, links to your social profiles.
Message match
‘Message match is a measure of how well your landing page copy matches the phrasing of the ad, link or copy that brought the visitor there.’
Social tags
Do you have open graph tags on your landing page.
Invitation
I like the fact that the tool reminds you to share the results and get more input from someone you know.
